Day 52 - Cape Perpetua

The river in front of our unit in Newport that keeps us from getting onto the main beach. No, it does not stop these dogs - they're just sizing it up before they easily wade across.

The bigger view from our digs - surfs up this morning and the beach has handled a constant stream of surfers.

Out at Cape Perpetua, idle spectators are totally unaware of the dangers of hanging around the Infamous and Insatiable Thor's Toilet.

Dog with ball. Woman with camera.

Did we ever mention there ain't nuthin' like a day at the beach?

Even the smallest patch of wet Oregon sand is good enough for beach ball.

Meanwhile, The Infamous and Insatiable Thor's Toilet gurgles with self-satisfaction. By the way, where did the unsuspecting spectators go?

Get on with it! Play ball!

Family portrait, with ball.

Finally, the perfect patch of untracked sand.

Lots of folks are out enjoying Cape Perpetua on this American Thanksgiving Holiday.

After the ball game, we hike out of the cove of perfect untracked sand.

The Cape Perpetua Dark Forest has outdone itself this time. The trees don't even look like trees anymore.

Guardian of the Dark Forest. Careful, he has a glowing red laser bottle.

The Infamous and Terrible Oregon Coast Conundrum Turnpath: "Left or Right?" Your decision will affect the rest of your life. Most folks just run away.

Cerberus, Persephone and Hades.

Today's Optical Illusion.

Once again, we visit the Sand Castles. They've done a lot of road-clearing. Really.
